A step towards my dream

As a kid I grew with fascination of being a scientist . but I never tried for it ..i was so lazy .
But  when I was in my 10th , I read  APJ abdul kalam’s wings of fire.. I was deeply moved by the book. It instilled a kind of enthusiasm and patriotism in me .  I soon wanted to be a missile scientist like  kalam. In that quest, I started to pay more attention in physics ,read more articles on Indian missiles  etc.when ever a new missile was included in the army , the next day newspaper would  give a brief about it. I used to read those twice and thrice … it was a kind of fascination to me.
When I was in 11th std , ISRO as part of space week celebrations conducted a  contest for students at school level. The competition was to do a project of Indian satellites : ARYABHATTA TO CHANDRAYAAN.Chandrayaan was not launched at that time.
The competition included 3 rounds .1) project     2) paper presentation,  3)quiz.    The  winner would get scholarships from ISRO and will be given training  in Chandigarh .The competition included some of the best schools all over kerala.
We  (me and few of my classmates) together made a project on the topic and submitted it  and got approved .Thus we got selected for  the 2nd round.
We made the paper presentation on the topic and presented it before the some of the dignitaries from ISRO  at Engineers hall ,kanakakunnu ,kerala.  It was a great experience for me , as I could interact with some of the brains in ISRO…
But in the quizzing section we could not win and  was ousted from the competition .. but it was big step towards my dream to join ISRO..
As a 11th std student it was the biggest opportunity ,then  to show my  talent .. though we could not win that competition ,it was one of the toughest I have faced so far …

Now when I look back to school life this incident comes to my mind first …
